Product Overview
The TPYS7-40 is a PV DC isolator switch built into an IP66 waterproof polycarbonate enclosure, rated for DC 1200V and 32A, and designed for safe manual disconnection of solar PV DC circuits. As an isolating switch engineered to align with IEC/EN 60947-3, it lets installers de-energise a PV string or array for maintenance, fault-finding, or emergency shutdown. Like all isolators, it does not provide overcurrent protection — that job is handled separately by fuses or DC circuit breakers.
The enclosure carries an IP66 rating and operates across a wide –40°C to +85°C range, suiting rooftop, ground-mount, and harsh-climate installations across the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Non-polarised wiring allows top-in / bottom-out or bottom-in / top-out connection, and a clear OFF (9 o’clock) / ON (12 o’clock) knob gives visible switch status for safe isolation.
The unit is available in 2-pole and 4-pole configurations and in 1-in-1-out, 2-in-2-out, and DIY 1-or-2-string layouts, so the same platform covers single-string residential systems up to multi-string commercial arrays. Rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) is 8kV, with a copper conductor path and a 20,000-operation mechanical life.

Applications
- Residential rooftop solar — serves as the main DC disconnect between the PV array and the inverter, letting the system be safely isolated for maintenance.
- Commercial & industrial PV — isolates individual strings or sub-arrays in larger rooftop, carport, and ground-mount systems, with 2-in-2-out and 4-pole options for multi-string layouts.
- Off-grid & energy storage (ESS) — provides manual DC disconnection on array and feeder circuits in off-grid and hybrid systems where a sealed, weatherproof isolator is required.

FAQs
A PV isolator switch manually connects or disconnects a solar DC circuit so it can be safely worked on, for example during maintenance or an emergency shutdown. It provides visible isolation but does not protect against overcurrent.
No. The TPYS7-40 is an isolating switch built to IEC/EN 60947-3, so it disconnects the circuit but does not trip on overload or short-circuit. Overcurrent protection is provided separately by a fuse or a DC circuit breaker.
No. The TPYS7-40 is rated for DC 1200V, so it suits systems operating at or below that voltage. For 1500V systems, use a device rated for DC 1500V.
A 2-pole isolator switches one DC circuit (positive and negative), while a 4-pole version can switch two DC circuits or provide additional pole separation. The choice depends on how many strings the isolator needs to disconnect.
The TPYS7-40 is housed in an IP66-rated polycarbonate enclosure and operates from –40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for outdoor rooftop and ground-mount installations.
The TPYS7-40 is engineered to align with IEC/EN 60947-3. Component certificates are available through TYPLE’s qualified supply-chain partners.
