Solar Combiner Box 2 In 1 Out Descriptions

The TPX7-N is a sealed PV combiner box built for outdoor DC collection where the enclosure can face standing water — low-lying ground mounts, flood-prone terrain, agricultural and off-grid installations, and coastal sites. It combines two PV strings into a single DC output at 500V, with string-level protection — a DC miniature circuit breaker, a DC surge protective device and DC fuses — housed in one impact-resistant polymer enclosure.

Where a rooftop or wall-mounted box only needs protection against dust and water jets, an installation that can be submerged needs an immersion-rated enclosure. The TPX7-N uses a fully sealed PC and ABS housing rated IP68 and IK10, so it holds up under both water ingress and mechanical impact. It suits residential and light-commercial arrays whose combiner box sits somewhere the weather, or the ground, will not be kind to it.

Partner With TYPLE For Custom 2-String PV Combiner Boxes

Need pricing or help confirming the correct configuration? Send us your PV string voltage, current, inverter model and required quantity. TYPLE will recommend the appropriate fuse, DC MCB, SPD and cable-entry options for your system. OEM labeling, component selection and bulk-order configurations are available.

Applications of wo-String Solar Combiner Box

Ground-mount and flood-prone sites — where a combiner box can sit in standing water after rain, the IP68 enclosure is the reason to choose this box over an IP65 one.

Agricultural and off-grid PV — irrigation-adjacent and remote installations where the box is exposed to water, dust and mechanical knocks in equal measure; IP68 plus IK10 covers both.

Residential and light-commercial arrays in harsh outdoor conditions — two-string systems whose combiner box is mounted somewhere genuinely wet rather than under shelter.

OEM Customization Solutions

TYPLE offers flexible OEM and ODM services for PV combiner boxes, including custom string configurations, enclosure branding, and component selection. Backed by the Liushi low-voltage electrical supply hub, we deliver customized solutions with short lead times.

For the TPX7-N specifically, the input fuse rating (10–30A), output MCB rating (32A or 63A), cable entry type (MC4 or PG) and enclosure branding can all be specified to your project. Send us your single-line diagram and site conditions and we will confirm a configuration and lead time.

How the 2 In 1 Out Solar Combiner Box Works

Two PV strings enter the combiner box through separate DC inputs. Each string passes through its specified fuse protection before the positive and negative conductors are combined. The DC SPD provides surge protection, while the output MCB provides switching and circuit protection before the combined cable runs to the inverter or charge controller.

The two PV strings should have compatible electrical characteristics and be connected according to the inverter’s input and MPPT requirements. Before ordering, confirm the maximum open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, string fuse rating, output current and connector type.

What to Confirm Before Ordering

To configure the correct 2 in 1 out solar combiner box, please provide:

  • Maximum open-circuit voltage (Voc) of each PV string
  • Short-circuit current (Isc) of each string
  • PV module and inverter model
  • Required fuse and output MCB ratings
  • Input and output cable sizes
  • Preferred MC4 connectors or PG cable glands
  • Installation environment
  • Required quantity and OEM requirements

Frequent Asked Questions

Is the TPX7-N combiner box waterproof?

It uses a fully sealed PC+ABS enclosure rated IP68, designed for continuous immersion exposure, together with an IK10 impact rating. The IP68 test report is available on request.

What is the difference between an IP68 and an IP65 combiner box?

IP65 is dust-tight and protected against water jets, which suits most rooftop and wall-mounted installations. IP68 adds protection against immersion, which matters when the box can sit in standing water — a ground-level or flood-prone site, for example.

How many strings does the TPX7-N take?

This configuration combines two PV strings into one DC output at 500V, with a fuse and surge protection per string and an output MCB rated up to 32A or 63A.

What protection devices are inside?

A DC miniature circuit breaker (IEC 60947-2), a DC surge protective device (IEC 61643-31) and DC fuse-links (IEC 60269-6), housed in an enclosure with an ingress protection degree declared per IEC 60529.

Can the configuration be customized?

Yes. Input fuse rating, output MCB rating, cable entry type and enclosure branding can be specified per project through TYPLE’s OEM service.

What does 2 in 1 out mean on a solar combiner box?

It means the box accepts two PV string inputs and combines them into one protected DC output connected to a compatible inverter or charge controller.

Can two solar strings be connected to one combiner box?

Yes, provided the string voltage, current, polarity and inverter input requirements are compatible. The fuse and output MCB ratings must be selected according to the actual PV system.
