What Is a Solar DC Fuse

A solar DC fuse is a gPV-class overcurrent device that protects individual PV strings from reverse and over-current faults, breaking the circuit safely at high DC voltages where standard AC fuses cannot. TYPLE’s TPF7-32 series is rated 1–32 A at DC 1000 V in a 10×38 mm format, with a 33 kA breaking capacity and UL94 V-0 flame-retardant PBT housing. It is engineered to align with IEC 60269-6; component-level certificates are available through TYPLE’s qualified supply-chain partners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I use a normal fuse for solar DC circuits?

DC arcs do not self-extinguish like AC, so PV circuits need gPV-class DC fuses rated for the array voltage to break faults safely.

What is the difference between TPF7-32 and TPF7-32X?

The TPF7-32 is a single-pole (1P) fuse; the TPF7-32X is a two-pole (2P) version that adds a blown-fuse indicator light for faster fault location.

What current ratings are available?

The TPF7-32 series covers 1 A to 32 A across 15 rating steps, at DC 1000 V with a 33 kA breaking capacity.
