What Is a Miniature Circuit Breaker

A miniature circuit breaker (MCB) is a DIN-rail protective device that automatically disconnects a circuit under overload or short-circuit conditions, protecting cabling and downstream equipment. TYPLE manufactures MCBs across three frame platforms — C45-type, C65-type, and L7-type — rated from 1 A to 125 A in 1P, 2P, 3P, and 4P configurations, with breaking capacities of 4.5 kA, 6 kA, and 10 kA and B, C, and D tripping curves to suit resistive, general, and inductive loads. All models are engineered to align with IEC 60898-1; component-level certificates are available through TYPLE’s qualified supply-chain partners.

MCB Frame Types

TYPLE manufactures three MCB frame platforms covering residential through industrial final distribution. The table
below compares them.

Frame Typical rated current Breaking capacity Best-fit application
C45-type frame 1–63 A 4.5 / 6 kA Residential & light-commercial final circuits
C65-type frame 1–125 A 6 / 10 kA Commercial & industrial distribution boards
L7-type frame 1–63 A 6 / 10 kA Modular DIN-rail final distribution

Frame, pole count, current rating, breaking capacity, and trip curve are configured to your distribution design.

WiFi Smart MCB (Available)

TYPLE also manufactures a WiFi-connected smart MCB that adds remote monitoring and control on top of standard overload and short-circuit protection. It reports circuit status, current, and energy data to a mobile app and supports remote trip / reset and over-current alerts — useful for facilities that need visibility of distribution circuits without on-site access. How to Choose an MCB

  • By breaking capacity: choose 4.5 kA for residential final circuits, 6 kA for general commercial, and 10 kA where the prospective short-circuit current is higher.
  • By tripping curve: Curve B for resistive and lighting loads, Curve C for general mixed loads, and Curve D for high-inrush inductive loads such as motors and transformers.
  • By poles: 1P for single-phase circuits, 2P for single-phase with isolation, and 3P/4P for three-phase distribution.

Match the frame type, current rating, and breaking capacity to your distribution board and prospective fault level.

OEM & Customization

TYPLE offers OEM and ODM MCBs, configuring frame type, current rating, breaking capacity, trip curve, pole count, and branding to your distribution requirements, with short lead times from the Liushi low-voltage supply hub.

MCB Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the C45-type, C65-type, and L7-type frames?

They are different MCB frame platforms covering a range of current and breaking-capacity levels: the C45-type frame suits residential and light-commercial circuits, the C65-type frame extends to 125 A and 10 kA for commercial and industrial boards, and the L7-type frame is a modular DIN-rail platform. TYPLE configures the frame to your application.

What breaking capacities are available?

TYPLE MCBs are available in 4.5 kA, 6 kA, and 10 kA breaking capacities. The right choice depends on the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point.

Which tripping curve should I use?

Curve B for resistive and lighting loads, Curve C for general mixed loads, and Curve D for high-inrush inductive loads such as motors and transformers.

Do you offer a WiFi or smart MCB?

Yes. TYPLE manufactures a WiFi smart MCB with remote monitoring, remote trip / reset, and over-current alerts via a mobile app. Contact us for ratings and OEM options.
